Palestinian workers permits

According to Haaretz, Israel will increase the number of permits available for Gazans working in Israeli in the wake of the withdrawal. Haaretz states that Israel plans to raise the number from the present 10,000 to 15,000 by 2006. On the basis of earlier Israeli government statements however, Palestinian labour in Israel will be phased out by 2008.

In the wake of the 12 July Netanya suicide attack and the ongoing disengagement from Gaza, the number of Gazan workers entering Israel on a daily basis has not exceeded 200. (UN sources)
