Rafah passenger terminal

According to Haaretz, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon is expected to meet senior Cabinet ministers later today to discuss control over the Gaza-Sinai border and the Philidelphi route.

Haaretz believes the Israeli government may accept an Egyptian proposal whereby Rafah terminal would close for arrivals from Sinai for between 6 and 9 months during which time Palestinians would have to enter Gaza via a new terminal at Kerem Shalom. After this interim period, Rafah would then reopen for entry into Gaza and be operated by European monitors under the surveillance of Israeli CCTV.
