At 7.20 pm, a home made rocket was fired towards the green line from the Islamic cemetery to the east of Jabalia camp. It is believed the rocket did not reach the green line and landed in PA territory.
Erez has been closed from 6.45 pm on account of a suspect vehicle at the terminal. An IDF bomb squad is shortly due to arrive to assess the vehicle and on the basis of previous experience Erez may remain closed for between 1 and 3 hours.
The Knesset has sanctioned the deployment of 750 Egyptian border guards along the Philidelphi route following the withdrawal of the last Israeli forces from Gaza. The decision was approved by the Cabinet last Sunday but required Knesset approval before it could take effect.
At 4.15 pm two IDF tanks, one bulldozer and an excavator moved about 100 metres from the border line to the south east of Gaza international airport and started digging up the land apparently in search of tunnels.
In the last hour an anti-tank missile was fired by Palestinian militants in the direction of IDF tanks and bull dozers to the north east of Beit Hanoun. The IDF responded with gun fire towards Beit Hanoun village. Palestinian security forces are now searching the area for those who carried out the attack. No injuries are reported.
